"West Wing"
The Catholic Community of Saint Cecilia owns 89.5 beautiful acres of the Adirondacks, butting up against State Land and Lens Lake in Stony Creek. The property is full of marked trails, amazing erratic's, and the mysteries attached to glaciers and fossils and more. There is a huge garage, a lovely potting shed / screen house, an information center, and a comfy all-season log cabin. The property was donated to the parish in 2003 by the Mombach Family of Long Island.
And how did that happen?
For seventeen wonderful years, the Mombach Family (John, Anna Marie, and daughter Theresa) spent two weeks of every month at "White Rose," as they called it. One Sunday morning before Mass, Mr. Mombach asked Sister Linda Hogan csj how to get in touch with the Bishop. "For WHAT, Mr Mombach?!!" Sister replied. "We want to offer our property in Stony Creek to the Diocese." "Oh, Mr. Mombach," Sister replied, "Don't do THAT!" He asked, "What should we do?" "Give it to us," Sister blurted. "Oh, OK," Mr. Mombach replied. And that was that!
